Levoit Core 300 review
The short answer
Yes. The Levoit Core 300 is a good buy for a room up to 222 sq ft. AHAM certifies it at 143 CFM of smoke clearing, and Amazon.com sold it for $84.99 on November 4, 2026. The catch is power: it draws 55 W on high, about $91 a year if it runs all day. The Core 300S cleans the same size room on 39.5 W and adds an app, but it costs $65 more, so the power it saves takes about 2 years to pay that back. For a living room, the Vital 200S is certified for 388 sq ft.

The Core 300 vs the Core 300S, Core 200S and Vital 200S
Smoke CADR and room size are AHAM-certified. Quietest setting is Levoit's own figure. Filter cost is the genuine filter on Amazon, changed at the middle of Levoit's schedule (every 7 months for the Core filters, 9 for the Vital). Power cost is running all day on the smoke-test speed at 18.83¢ per kWh. Two-year cost = Amazon price + filters you'd buy + two years of power. Amazon prices on November 4, 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Levoit Core 300 worth it?
Yes, for a room up to 222 sq ft. AHAM certifies 143 smoke CADR, it cost $84.99 on November 4, 2026, and its genuine filter is $25.99. It is not ENERGY STAR: running all day it uses about $91 of power a year.
Levoit Core 300 vs Core 300S: which is better?
They clean the same size room: AHAM certifies 143 vs 141 smoke CADR and 222 vs 219 sq ft. The 300S adds Wi-Fi and app control and draws 39.5 W instead of 55.4 W. Levoit lists it quieter on low (22 dB vs 24 dB). On November 4, 2026 the 300S cost $149.99, $65 more. Buy the 300S if you want the app; buy the 300 to save money.
Do the Levoit Core 300 and 300S use the same filter?
Yes. AHAM's directory lists the same genuine replacement filter for both (Levoit Core 300-P-RF, $25.99 on Amazon on November 4, 2026). Levoit says to replace it every 6 to 8 months, about $45 a year.
How long does a Levoit Core 300 filter last?
Levoit says 6 to 8 months. Change it sooner if you run it all day, have pets, or use it for smoke. Wipe or vacuum the outer pre-filter every 2 to 4 weeks, as Levoit says. The best-selling off-brand filter is about $23 a year, only $21 less, and no lab has tested it. Our off-brand filter check says buy the genuine one.
Is the Levoit Core 300 a true HEPA filter?
AHAM's directory files its filter as HEPA-Type, not True HEPA. The Amazon listing's own words are "HEPA Sleep Mode" and "Remove 99.97%". What tells you how fast it cleans is the certified smoke CADR, and the Core 300's is 143.
Is the Levoit Core 300 the same as the Core 300-P?
Yes. The Amazon listing's model field says Core 300-P, and Levoit's own page for the Core 300-P lists "Model: Core 300" with the same 143 CFM. The PlasmaPro 300-P (model LAP-C302-WUSR) is a different machine with an ionizer.
Levoit Core 300 vs Vital 200S: which should I buy?
Pick by room size. The Core 300 is certified for 222 sq ft; the Vital 200S for 388 sq ft at 250 smoke CADR. On November 4, 2026 the Vital 200S cost $189.99 and its filter about $67 a year. For a bedroom, the Core 300 is enough.
Is the Levoit Core 300 better than the Core 200S?
For a typical bedroom, yes. AHAM certifies the Core 200S at 90 smoke CADR for 140 sq ft, about two-thirds of the Core 300. It costs less ($69.97 on November 4, 2026), so it fits a small room or desk.
How loud is the Levoit Core 300?
Levoit lists 24 to 54.5 dB. Low is a whisper; high, the speed AHAM's room size assumes, is about as loud as a normal conversation.
How big a room does the Levoit Core 300 cover?
AHAM suggests it for a room up to 222 square feet. That rating assumes it runs on high and cleans the air about 4.8 times an hour. For faster cleaning — say for wildfire smoke or allergies — size it to a smaller room than the maximum.
What is the CADR of the Levoit Core 300?
Its AHAM Clean Air Delivery Rate is 153 for dust, 143 for smoke and 167 for pollen, with a PM2.5 CADR of 148. CADR is cubic feet of clean air delivered per minute — higher clears a room faster.
How much power does the Levoit Core 300 use?
About 55.4 watts on its smoke-clearing setting, which works out to 2.6 CADR per watt — a measure of how much clean air you get for the electricity it draws. It is not ENERGY STAR certified.
Sources. Clean Air Delivery Rate (dust / smoke / pollen), PM2.5 CADR, suggested room size, ENERGY STAR status and power draw come from the AHAM Verifide air-cleaner directory (the industry's independent CADR test). Average CADR, clean-air-per-watt and the percentile figures are computed by Verified HVAC Data from those published ratings. We publish no star ratings and take no payment for placement. "Not published" means AHAM's record doesn't disclose it — we never fill a spec with a guess.
