Is the Midea Cube Dehumidifier Worth It?
Yes at 35 and 50 pints: the Cube costs less than Midea's regular dehumidifier ($3.97 less at 35 and $18.40 less at 50), and ENERGY STAR certifies them within about 1 pint a day of each other. At 20 pints, buy the regular Midea 22 Pint: it is $9.44 cheaper than the Midea Cube 20 and certifies 22.31 pints a day to the Cube's 20.16. If you need a pump, the regular Midea 50 Pint with Pump is $8.27 less than the Midea Cube 50 with Pump. Prices: Amazon.com, October 17, 2026.

02 / The difference
What the Cube adds, and what it does not
- A bigger tank. Midea says the Cube's tank is up to three times larger than a regular dehumidifier's, so you empty it less often if you don't run a hose.
- A body that collapses. It runs extended and nests to about half its height for storage in a dry season.
- The same certified performance as Midea's regular units at each size. ENERGY STAR lists them within about 2 pints a day of each other and, at 35 and 50 pints, at the same 2.01 liters per kWh.
- No extra efficiency. None of the Cubes is ENERGY STAR Most Efficient; the Cube 20's 1.7 L/kWh is the minimum for its class.

- Midea Cube vs regular Midea dehumidifier: what is the difference?
- The shape and the tank, not the drying. ENERGY STAR certifies the Cube 50 at 49.67 pints a day and the regular Midea 50 Pint at 49.74, both at 2.01 L/kWh. The Cube has a tank Midea says is up to 3x larger and folds down for storage. On October 17, 2026 the Cube 50 was $241.59 and the regular 50 Pint $259.99.
- Is the Midea Cube 20 Most Efficient?
- No. ENERGY STAR lists it at 1.7 liters per kWh, which is the minimum for its size class, and does not mark it Most Efficient.
- How much does the Midea Cube cost to run?
- ENERGY STAR's yearly energy at 16¢ per kWh: Cube 20 about $40, Cube 35 about $60, Cube 50 about $82 if run at full rated output. Real cost depends on how damp the space is and how long it runs.
- What size Midea Cube do I need?
- Use ENERGY STAR's chart, in certified pints: under 2,000 sq ft, 20 to 30 pints if slightly damp, 25 to 40 if very damp, 30 to 50 if wet. The Cube 35 fits most basements; see our sizing guide for the full chart.
- Has the Midea Cube been recalled?
- No Midea dehumidifier appears on CPSC's dehumidifier recall list (checked October 17, 2026).
- Does the Midea Cube have a pump?
- Only the Cube 50 with Pump ($249.99). The others drain to the tank or a hose you run to a floor drain.
